There is a picture box (or a text box) with only three handles in my document, and I can't move it. Why did this happen, and how can I delete the box?
Anchored boxes (picture boxes or text boxes) are displayed with only three handles. You accidentally anchored the box by cutting or copying it with the Item tool selected and then pasting it into text with the Content tool selected. The anchored box becomes part of the text, and QuarkXPress treats it like a character in the text. It will flow along with the text whenever the text reflows.
1. If you want to create an anchored box, simply click on the box you want to anchor with the Item tool selected. Choose either Cut or Copy from the Edit menu. Select the Content tool. Place the Text Insertion bar at the point in the text at which you would like to anchor the box, and choose Paste from the Edit menu. The box you cut or copied becomes a character in that text box. You can change the alignment of an anchored box by choosing either Ascent or Baseline from the Anchored Text/Picture Box Specifications dialog box (Item->Modify), or by choosing the Ascent-aligned icon or the Baseline-aligned icon from the Measurements palette .
2. If you want to create a nonanchored copy of an anchored box, activate the box and duplicate it, by selecting Duplicate from the Item menu.
3. If you want to delete an anchored box, place the Text Insertion bar immediately to the right of the anchored box and press the Delete key. You can also highlight the box as you would a character in the text and delete it with the Delete key, with the Cut command from the Edit menu, or with the keyboard equivalent Command-X.
